The biggest discount that
still holds the floor
Enter the deal. The tool finds the largest discount that still holds your margin floor, then shows the two ways a report can state it to two decimals: truncated, and rounded.

Price 176,380.00, margin 45.0051 %: holds the floor.
Price 176,360.00, margin 44.9989 %: under the floor.
The two boxes disagree. The rounded figure looks like the more careful answer, and it is the one that sits under the floor.
The working
Discount asked: 20.00 % -> price 160,000.00, margin 39.3750 % (under the floor by 5.625 points) Minimum compliant price: cost / (1 - floor) = 176,363.64 Maximum discount that holds the floor: 11.8182 % Truncated: 11.81 % Rounded: 11.82 % A ceiling is stated truncated. Rounding up crosses it.
What it means when the two boxes disagree
A maximum is a ceiling. Stated to two decimals it has to be truncated, because rounding up, even by a hundredth of a point, moves the price under the floor. The rounded figure looks like the more careful one at a glance. It is the one that sits under the floor.
On the pre-filled deal the discount asked equals the delegated authority exactly, so the authority question is answered yes, and the floor still breaks by 5.625 points. Authority and margin are two different questions, and a clean answer to the first says nothing about the second.
Where this check comes from
The numbers pre-filled here are the deal-desk fixture: a 200,000.00 deal at 97,000.00 cost, a 45.0 percent floor, and a 20.0 percent discount asked against exactly 20.0 percent of delegated authority. The maximum discount that holds the floor is 11.8182 percent. In the pack, the agent that prepares the approval packet must state it truncated to 11.81, and its answer key fails an agent that writes 11.82.
The check is one of the fixtures in The Sales AI Stack. You do not need the pack to use this page. That is the point of publishing the page.
The arithmetic is the agent’s. The approval is a person’s.
