That is how Jared Spataro, Microsoft’s CMO for AI at Work, described my free, open-source Copilot prompt library in the AI at Work newsletter, February 2026. He was citing that free repo, not this product.

The situation

Someone with fifteen years of context leaves in three weeks, and the handover plan is a list of systems, passwords and a shared drive folder. None of that is the thing you are about to lose.

What you lose is the judgment. Which exceptions were allowed and why, where the written rule stopped matching practice, the check they run before signing anything. It was never written down, and asking "is there anything else?" does not get it out.

What this is

The Expert's Last Friday is a structured way to transfer bounded reasoning and make the residual judgment visible. You build three contrasting cases from records the expert already touched. The successor answers them in writing. Then the expert corrects the answers in their own words.

The correction is the product. A rule that survives contact with the person who made it is worth writing down. A rule that gets withdrawn teaches the successor more than the one that was right first time.

Questions people actually ask

How long does it take?

The agendas allocate 140 minutes across the session, plus 30 minutes of manager preparation. Those are planned allocations rather than measured runs, and they assume usable records already exist. Finding the records is the part that varies.

Do we need AI for this?

No. Three editable prompts are included and every one of them is optional. The method is an expert correcting a successor's written reasoning, which works with nothing but the records and a room.

Are the cases real?

No. Every case, document, organisation and reference answer in the pack is authored teaching material, labelled fictional inside the files. You build your own cases from your own records; the supplied ones are how you learn to.

Does completing it certify the successor?

No, and the pack says so in writing. Completing a case does not transfer authority to approve, sign or pay anything. Technical acceptance, contractual commitments and safety decisions stay with their actual owners.

What does the licence cover?

What it does not cover is running handovers for client organisations, paid or unpaid, and reselling or redistributing the pack. Within that limit, one legal entity may run unlimited handovers for its own people, including the contractors working for it, adapt and print the materials, hand participants their packets, and keep the records that result. Client delivery is the Trainer and Reseller tier in Article 3.4, which is not sold from this page: email mathieu@kesslernity.com if that is the plan.
