Copilot can analyze a shared desktop screen and, on mobile during a real-time voice session, a live feed from the device camera, front or back. It answers questions about what it sees in spoken form, grounded in work and web data. The roadmap entry reads generally available against a June 2026 target date.

Microsoft is merging the consumer Copilot app and the Microsoft 365 Copilot app into a single updated Copilot app. Sign-in supports a personal account, a work or school account, or both. For work or school the page states the icon and name update and otherwise minimal changes.

Copilot in Word now supports selecting Anthropic models alongside the existing OpenAI models when editing a document. Previously only OpenAI models were available.

Copilot in PowerPoint now draws on enterprise image assets held in an Adobe Experience Manager asset library connected to Microsoft 365, when creating presentations in Edit mode. Previously it used only publicly available or user-uploaded images.

Users can now start a presentation with Copilot in PowerPoint directly from the web app home screen. Microsoft states this applies to Microsoft 365 Copilot Basic and Premium.

Copilot now delivers coaching feedback on Outlook email drafts through chat and can apply suggestions to the message in place, with the user choosing which ones are applied. Previously the feedback appeared in canvas and suggestions could only be applied all at once.

Copilot prepares a user for a meeting by gathering the relevant context, tasks, documents and other resources ahead of it and surfacing them as real-time insights, in place of hunting through pre-reads and action items by hand.

Copilot connectors now run content crawl and identity crawl in parallel, making ingested content available to users faster than before. Previously, content crawl and identity crawl executed sequentially, causing delays before content became accessible in Copilot. Now, both crawls run in parallel, reducing total processing time.

Copilot in PowerPoint can now reference online sources while creating a presentation. Previously live web information could not be used directly as source material there.

ServiceNow Knowledge and Catalog connectors now enforce access permissions based on user roles such as admin, knowledge manager, and knowledge admin. Earlier, permissions in ServiceNow Knowledge and Catalog connectors were determined only by user criteria without considering roles.

Meetings as References brings Teams meeting content into Copilot Notebooks, so Copilot can be grounded on the discussions and decisions recorded in a meeting.

Learn now documents the Cowork model picker: Auto by default, then GPT 5.5 (Frontier), GPT 5.6 Sol, GPT 5.6 Terra, Opus 5, Claude Sonnet 5 and Claude Fable 5. Fable 5 is the one that carries a governance condition. It is in preview, off until an admin turns it on under Copilot settings in the admin center, and it requires data retention, so prompts and responses for that model are kept by the model provider instead of following Cowork's default no-retention posture, with a banner shown while it is selected. A separate effort control (Light, Medium, High, Extra High and Max) sets how hard the model works and how quickly it consumes a user's limits, and an admin can switch off the Anthropic model family outright.

A new Learn article under the Agent 365 documentation set, carrying Microsoft's preview banner: not meant for production use, possibly restricted functionality, supplemental terms of use. Two statements in it matter for governance. A Microsoft 365 Copilot licence is required to use Work IQ MCP servers, and admins allow or block MCP servers across the organization from the Microsoft 365 admin center. The catalogue spans Work IQ Copilot, Calendar, Mail, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, User and Word servers, plus Windows 365 agents, Fabric IQ Ontology, Dataverse and Dynamics 365, and a management server for building custom ones. No general availability date is stated and no roadmap ID is cited.

Planner Agent will now be available for Microsoft 365 Copilot licensed users in all group-based Planner plans, including basic plans. Planner Agent, previously limited to premium plans, is now available in all group-based Planner plans for users with a Microsoft 365 Copilot license.

Roadmap entry 569213, created 11 August, states users will be able to insert agents and skills into prompts for specialized tasks. They are added from an Agents and Skills tab, reached by selecting Add work content from the plus (+) menu, or by typing / or @ in the prompt itself.

Microsoft's 12 August post describes a LegalZoom agent running inside Microsoft 365 Copilot: chat with a LegalZoom Legal Assistant, get a recommended business formation plan, or reach an attorney without leaving Copilot. The post says the agent is available now through the Microsoft Marketplace, but names no roadmap milestone and no admin control, so there is nothing yet for tenant policy to point at. Microsoft's own footnote states that Microsoft 365 Copilot does not provide legal advice or legal services.

The Azure SQL Knowledge Source capability adds Azure SQL to the enterprise data sources available when building agents in Copilot Studio.

Microsoft 365 Roadmap entry 568929, created August 10, 2026, states Microsoft is enabling Microsoft Dataverse as a native knowledge source in Copilot Studio, so agents can be grounded in structured enterprise data including records, customer data, operational data and business application content.

Microsoft announced general availability on 10 August across four capabilities: related tenants, governance relationships for least-privileged cross-tenant delegated administration, tenant configuration management against baselines spanning Defender, Entra, Exchange Online, Intune, Purview and Teams, and secure tenant creation. It belongs in a Copilot brief because it is the control plane the multi-tenant agent management story sits on. General availability applies to Tenant Governance itself; the agent management capability it enables is stated as still in preview.

A new agents usage report will be available in the Microsoft 365 admin center. The report covers agents in Microsoft 365 Copilot and Copilot Chat, with usage by both licensed and unlicensed users. It gives total active agents and total active agent users, segments active users by licensed and unlicensed, segments both active users and active agents by publisher type (user-created, built by the organization, built by Microsoft, built by Microsoft partners), and reports usage per user, per agent and per user-agent pair.

Learn now documents a Copilot Frontier user access control, at Copilot > Settings > View all > Copilot Frontier in the admin center. The setting governs access to experimental and preview features in web apps, desktop apps and agents. The documented default is No access, so no users reach Frontier features until an admin changes it.

Administrators can designate specific SharePoint sites as official, trusted sources of information. Microsoft states that classifying a site as authoritative causes its content, such as company news, policies and updates, to be prioritized across Copilot Search experiences.

Users will be able to select text manually in classic Outlook for Windows and ask Copilot for relevant information about the selection. That one sentence is the whole of Microsoft's description. The roadmap entry is in development against a September 2026 target date, with a preview date of May 2026 that has already passed.

The Microsoft 365 Copilot mobile app will send unprompted push notifications for common productivity workflows, named in the entry as 'Your Day at a Glance' and 'Items waiting for you'. Opening one takes the user to the matching Copilot response.

Microsoft has decided not to move forward with the =COPILOT worksheet function, which would have let a formula generate, classify and summarize text and data directly inside Excel. The roadmap entry carried a January 2027 target date and now reads cancelled.

Microsoft has decided not to move forward with replacing stock video footage with AI-generated images in the Create experience in Microsoft 365 Copilot. The entry described swapping stock visuals for images from an OpenAI image generation model, and had carried a November 2025 target date before it was withdrawn on 10 August.

Microsoft has improved how Copilot reads long and complex files by making it more aware of document structure. Microsoft has decided not to move forward with this feature.

Copilot Chat in Outlook expanding to support reasoning over a user's entire inbox, calendar and other enterprise data for Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat users (without a Microsoft 365 Copilot license).

When the content language and the Outlook language do not match, users will be able to pick a different language for Copilot's summarize responses. The roadmap entry is in development against an October 2026 target date, with preview targeted at September 2026.

Selecting text in a PDF in OneDrive for iOS and tapping Ask Copilot will explain, summarize, translate or answer a custom question about the selection, matching the in-context experience already available on desktop. For recorded call queue calls, the Queues app will support call recaps carrying AI-generated summary notes, key discussion points and follow-up actions, reached from the Recap tab on a call record. The roadmap entry is in development against a September 2026 target date.

Copilot Notebooks now supports CSV and TSV files as knowledge sources, allowing users to bring structured lists and tables directly into their projects alongside traditional documents. This additional context helps Copilot generate more relevant presentations, reports, and briefs.
