Copilot in Excel returns links in its response that jump to where the workbook changed, including new sheets, tables, ranges, charts and shapes, so a reviewer can check each edit in place.

The redesigned Copilot Notebooks in the Microsoft 365 Copilot app hold related chats, generated output and references in one persistent workspace, and ground responses in that accumulated context across sessions. The entry moved from preview to announced on the page.

Custom engine agents become usable by users in the DoD cloud. The roadmap moves the entry to generally available and dates general availability to August CY2025, before the entry itself was created on 23 Oct 2025, so this may be a late roadmap correction, not new availability.

Self-serve sync connectors enter preview for a limited set of customers. Each user authenticates to the external source with their own credentials, only content that user can already reach is synchronised into Microsoft Graph, and only that user can retrieve it. Only Microsoft-published connectors are offered. They appear in the Microsoft 365 admin center pre-enabled, and an admin can make one visible, hide it or disable it for the tenant. A new self-serve connector also goes through a seven-day admin review period before users can see it. Disabling stops synchronisation and deletes that connector's indexed content for every user, and the same removal happens when an individual user disconnects.

Agent Mode in PowerPoint can reference files held in SharePoint libraries and OneDrive folders when building a presentation. The roadmap moves the entry to generally available and dates it to June CY2026 for worldwide multi-tenant.

Federated connectors use the Model Context Protocol to fetch data live from a third-party service without indexing it into Microsoft 365. Under a Coming soon heading, the overview page states that write, update and delete actions begin rolling out in early October 2026.

A new on-premises variant of the Veeva connector indexes documents and metadata from Veeva Vault PromoMats, QualityDocs and RIM into Microsoft Graph, honouring the permissions set in Vault. It is hybrid and needs the Microsoft Graph connector agent on a Windows machine the organization manages. The cloud Veeva connectors already existed and remain.

New Learn guidance for developers building line-of-business MCP apps that extend declarative agents in Microsoft 365 Copilot. Inside a declarative agent, an MCP app adds an interactive app widget to an MCP tool response. A new Microsoft 365 Copilot connector indexes The Josh Bersin Company research library into Microsoft Graph, making it discoverable in Microsoft 365 Copilot, Copilot Search and Microsoft Search. The connector honours each user's existing Microsoft 365 permissions, and a companion Learn page documents two declarative agents that sit on top of it.

Anthropic's Claude Opus 5.5 and OpenAI's GPT-6 Sol are rolling out to Microsoft Copilot as of 22 September 2026, across Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Chat, Cowork and Copilot Studio. Microsoft presents the change as expanding model choice in Copilot.

Admins mark SharePoint sites as authoritative content so they rank higher in Microsoft 365 Copilot Search, under Copilot then Search then Authoritative content in the Microsoft 365 admin center. The cap is 100 sites. The roadmap moves the entry from in development to generally available.

A dedicated License Requests page in the Microsoft 365 admin center collects, reviews and manages Microsoft 365 Copilot licence requests raised by users. Listed for the web. The page now carries it as announced rather than generally available.

A control in People Skills settings permanently removes a tenant's People Skills data, deleting the whole skills library together with confirmed, inferred and imported user skills, for offboarding, data governance and compliance. Previously listed as generally available, now announced.

The entry described letting users pick content sources in Copilot Chat so responses drew only on the selected ones. Microsoft's 18 September update states it is cancelling the roadmap item at this time, and the roadmap moved the entry from rolling out to cancelled.

The cancelled entry would have preserved a Copilot Chat conversation when a user navigated away, creating a session-history entry as soon as a prompt was submitted. The roadmap entry was updated on 18 Sep 2026 but dates from 14 Aug 2025 and gives no reason for the cancellation, so the cancellation may not be recent news.

Copilot in PowerPoint is planned for the GCC cloud, generating and editing slides from natural language while preserving formatting, structure and branding, with brand kit templates and brand compliance checks. The roadmap targets general availability in October CY2026 for Microsoft 365 Copilot licensed users.

Federated connectors of MCP type read from third-party services today; this entry unblocks the create, update and delete tools in Copilot Chat, acting with the signed-in user's own account and permissions and requiring explicit confirmation for each action. Copilot Cowork is planned for government clouds. The entry describes delegating a described outcome, with Cowork grounding the work in mail, meetings, messages, files and business data. The roadmap targets general availability in November CY2026.

Teams users would create a face profile using their camera during eligible meetings after opting in, so supported Teams Rooms can recognise who is in the room and improve downstream meeting experiences such as Copilot and recap. Admins can enable or disable it for the organization, and the roadmap targets general availability in November CY2026.

Local inferencing would confine the model-execution step for supported Copilot interactions to the applicable local geography, with launches planned for Australia, India, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom and the United States. Target general availability is December CY2026 for worldwide multi-tenant.

A skill uploaded to the PowerPoint Brand Kit as a markdown file would be usable by Copilot in PowerPoint. Target general availability is October CY2026 for worldwide multi-tenant.

Conversational chat would come to the Dynamics 365 Field Service mobile app, letting technicians ask natural language questions against Dataverse data, such as the work history of an asset or who last worked on a job. Target general availability is February CY2027 for worldwide multi-tenant.
